From 21st to 23rd January 2018 the atb_sales, the largest tourism fair in Austria, took plat at the Austria Center Vienna. 500 exhibitors from all Austrian provinces met 400 international buyers from 40 countries – from the United States to China, from Sweden to Italy and also from San Marino, Luxembourg, Iran und Ireland.
In cooperation with the Vienna Tourist Board the Austrian National Tourist Office invited all participants to the Welcome reception in the City Hall of Vienna. Performances from the A-Cappella-Group VIEVOX (former Vienna Boys’ Choir) and the Walter-Soyka-Trio with “Schrammelmusik” as well as a live painted Picture of Vienna and a green box with motives of Vienna were also part of the programme.
On Monday from 10:00 am on all participants met in the Austria Center Vienna for their business talks. At the fair you could also get information about the environmentfriendly Alpbachtal exhibiting a Tesla, the 200-years- anniversary of “Silent Night”, the World Championships taking place in 2018/19 in Tirol and their postings at the social wall. Bianca Gusenbauer an her team baked apple strudel live and offered tastings of Cheese, beer, bread and butter. The culinary sides of Austria were represented at three individual furnished cafés Winter Hut, Summer Escape und Culture Encounter. Highlight was the networking party with DJ John Megill and the saxophonist Tom X, a silhouette artist, a comfy chill-out-area as well as food trucks with burger, sausages and “käsespätzle”.
On Tuesday morning the region managers Carmen Breuss, Emanuel Lehner-Telic and Michael Gigl talked about the challendes and current developments for travel agencies and tour operators. Until 2 pm business talks were possible, after that all participants drove back home. Selceted buyers started their post tour to Carinthia, Innsbruck, Tirol and SalzburgerLand.
